Mannington works with Operation Finally Home

[Salem, N.J.] Mannington recently partnered with Operation Finally Home (which provides custom-built, mortgage-free homes to veterans) and The Lewes Building Co. to provide flooring for the new Milton, Del. home of U.S. Army Sergeant (RET) Shaun O’Brien.

As a combat medic deployed to Afghanistan, Sergeant O’Brien was part of a landmine sweep team hit by a high explosive anti-tank rocket that landed just 25 feet away. After helping tend to his team’s wounds, O’Brien realized that he, too, was hurt. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, herniated discs and compressed nerves in his spine (which led to three back surgeries).

Following his recovery, O’Brien enrolled in a vocational rehabilitation program. As a former graphic artist, he plans to return to college to pursue a degree in industrial design.

For the O’Brien home, Mannington’s Adura Dockside (color-Seashell) and Adura Max Legacy (color-White with Gray) were picked. Transitional looks that are durable and easy-care, the company added that these floors are child and pet-friendly, too.

In the kitchen, Mannington’s Adura Dockside delivered the look of reclaimed wood when paired with contemporary and traditional design elements, like the sleek waterfall island and classic white cabinetry.

In the master bedroom, Adura Dockside created a relaxed, beachy vibe alongside a creamy white bed with a shutter-style headboard and colorful lamps in a Caribbean blue.

A modern take on classic Carrara marble, Adura Max Legacy luxury vinyl tile is waterproof and less slippery than real stone. That made Legacy a stylish, smart pick for both the guest bath and master bath (which features a handicap accessible bathtub).

Mannington's Adura Dockside floors were also donated for the living room, children’s bedrooms, home office and laundry room.

When asked what having their own home means to her family, Jesyka O’Brien said that they’d lived in nine houses in nine years. But now they get to say that this is home, not just for now, but forever.
