[Dalton] Within the hardwood segment, Shaw is developing innovative and on-trend products to visually align with its consumers’ preferences, as well as provide innovative finishes that resist scratches and scoffs, according to the company.

“Finishes such as our Scuff-resist Platinum paired with reactive stains enhance the natural beauty of the product without sacrificing durability,” noted Kyle Mcallister, hardwood director of Shaw adding, “Consumers are seeking wider lengths and longer lengths. As an example, Shaw Floors recently launched Expressions 9.5” and Grand Estate 10.5” to match this preference.”

Education & Awareness
And aside from investing in maintaining a desirable product portfolio, Shaw is heavily focused on educating its sales force and customers on hardwood’s features and benefits.

“Hardwood flooring has been used for centuries and it’s our duty to show how this type of flooring withstands the test of time. Because of its natural beauty, many consumers begin the shopping journey with hardwood in mind. We work hard to create awareness on the additional benefits: durability, ease of maintenance, improved home value and sustainability,” offered Mcallister.

Abundance of Options
Although economic headwinds remain a factor, Shaw sees a lot of excitement in 2024.

Offered Mcallister, “This year Shaw will celebrate one of the largest hardwood product launches to date. We will introduce several new species, along with unique finishes that are new to the market. We will also be focused on filling existing gaps in our product mix. For consumers who are committed to purchasing hardwood to elevate their personal style, Shaw’s residential brands will offer new options that bring elevated exclusivity to their homes.”

What’s more, Shaw Floors is launching an exotic hardwood species to provide RSAs differentiated product at an excellent price point. The new Regatta Teak draws inspiration from nautical craftsmanship with hues of golden brown, unique graining and two different sizes.

Anderson Tuftex introduces two new styles this year as well, inspired by heirloom hardwoods. Noted Mcallister, “Transcendence features a unique hickory with a reactive stain for a vintage patina, while Coast to Coast offers a light visual utilizing hand brushed paint to enhance the wood's grain.” Also, in support of sustainability, Anderson Tuftex pledges to plant a tree for every hardwood product sold in 2024.
