The Measure Square software allows users to measure the dimensions of a room using a phone’s camera.
Selling flooring has come a long way for retailers, and now, technology companies are pushing boundaries even further. This year, at The International Surfaces Event 2018 (TISE), Measure Square is introducing a flooring-related augmented reality phone application — and TISE attendees can try it for themselves.
“From this year on, the iPhone and also the Android iOS platforms are able to support augmented reality. People can use AR features to visualize product or any 3-D object now using their phones,” revealed Steven Wang, president of Measure Square.
Measure Square is already known for creating software that allows customers to measure the dimensions of a room using their phones or tablets. In fact, every year at TISE, the Measure Square team releases an updated version of the software — this year, the company is going a step further.
“We’ll be the first company that integrates with the AR technology for floor measuring and visualizing the product using cellphones,” Wang explained. “Now, people can use not only the measuring aspect of the application, but we can virtually apply flooring product on a surface measured by the device so that people can do both — measure and see what a product looks like.”
Wang revealed that Measure Square has also partnered with QFloors, Comp-U-Floors and Rollmaster. TISE attendees are encouraged to stop by Measure Square booth number 315 to see exactly how the beta version of this software works.
“People can measure a lot faster with AR than with measuring tape,” said Wang. “At the show, the advantage is that people can see how it works … people can use their cameras and cell phones to do the measuring, making the doing part a lot faster.”
