[Dalton] UL Environment, a division of UL (Underwriters Laboratories) today announced that The Carpet and Rug Institute’s (CRI’s) Green Label Plus certified carpet, cushion and adhesive products will be added to SPOT, UL’s web-based product sustainability information tool. According to the company, the addition of Green Label Plus products will provide SPOT users with access to more than 600 additional flooring products that have low chemical emissions, enhancing their ability to identify healthier, more sustainable flooring that meets their project needs.

SPOT features more than 50,000 green products and facilitates their selection for the design community, professional purchasers and others seeking sustainable products. Additionally, UL developed an add-in for AutoDesk Revit users to access product data from SPOT and assign it directly to their project. The company added that Green Label Plus certified products will be included in this add-in, providing unprecedented visibility into trusted green product information and selection.

“SPOT is an open, collaborative platform for the green building industry to access thousands of products with sustainable attributes,” said Alberto Uggetti, vice president and general manager, UL Environment. “The addition of CRI Green Label Plus certified products is an important step in the evolution of SPOT to be the industry’s most credible resource for finding healthier, more sustainable products they trust.”

“For 25 years, CRI Green Label Plus has been a trusted certification program that demonstrates carpet products have low emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds,” said Joe Yarbrough, president of The Carpet and Rug Institute. “The inclusion of Green Label Plus products in SPOT enables our manufacturers to have more exposure for their products on a trusted product platform and helps architects, designers and specifiers access this information during the BIM process.”
