CFL launches matte finish & improves acoustics

[Adairsville, Ga.] Today’s consumers continue to look for low gloss and matte finishes on their hard surface flooring and CFL is answering this demand with its new NaturTrend technology — NaturTrend made its market debut at The International Surface Event just last month. What makes this technology innovative is that NaturTrend utilizes nitrogen to provide a consistent sheen across planks from any angle, even after wear and tear.

With consumers also looking to make their homes quieter, another focus for CFL in 2023 will be its quiet engineered vinyl collection NovoCore Q. New additions to the collection will include the NaturTrend technology, meaning end users can have the performance qualities they need with the looks they love.

Love for Low-Gloss
NaturTrend technology is “ideal for large commercial installations and stain and traffic resistance,” noted CFL president Thomas Baert. “NaturTrend will be available in our newly launched FirmFit Matte lines coming to the U.S. in Q1 of 2023.”

Baert noted that most people first try to add a matting agent to the finish when aiming for that low-gloss look, however that doesn’t allow for 100 percent control over the gloss level. “The younger generations are more eager to look at low-gloss spots. They think that the Scandinavian look is something that appeals to the end-user,” he said, adding, “We’re happy to bring a new product to market.”

The method CFL has created to showcase the low gloss has been successful. This display method depicts the normal low gloss plank side-by-side with the NaturTrend finish. Viewing these two different glosses within the natural light from a window allows consumers to “really see the amazing gloss difference that it gives you between the new technology and the traditional low gloss matte finish,” said Baert.

Silence Speaks Volumes
As more and more consumers are looking for a rigid core flooring with improved sound absorption, CFL has found it imperative to significantly reduce that impact sound reflection and provide stronger acoustics.

The “quietest rigid core floor on the market,” NovoCore Q patented engineered vinyl floor is a quieter high performing hard surface solution introduced by CFL in 2022. According to the company, Novocore Q is up to six times quieter than standard SPC. Available in 12 colors, this collection has various options for many consumer preferences.

“I can tell you we’ve been testing a lot of competing products and we’re very happy with what we’ve come to,” noted Jerome Nurenberg, marketing director at CFL. The company offers a drop test book with samples within it that can be tapped on to showcase the quietness of the product along with Novocore Q displays and merchandising.

“Of course, it also comes with all the advantages our customers have come to expect of a waterproof floor — it’s just as rigid, just as waterproof, just as stable and also GREENGUARD Gold Certified,” offered Nurenberg. This certification offers stricter criteria and considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals.
