2015 GREENSTEP ASIA AWARDS
GreenStep Asia Awards, a joint venture with Floor Covering Weekly (FCW) is a program to honor individuals and organizations working to advance sustainability in floor covering through products and processes. The competition is open to any manufacturer in the world that has manufacturing facilities in
Asia where they apply the principles of environmental sustainability. It features four awards categories for the flooring industry: best green product, best green practice/process, best green promotion/communication and best green pinnacle.
Floor Covering Weekly founded the GreenStep Awards in 2009 and is now recognized by all major U.S. flooring industry associations and suppliers. The goals are to raise awareness of environmental issues in the flooring industry, to recognize the organizations that make contribution to this great cause and to honor companies or individuals for the sustainable development of the global flooring industry.
2015 GreenStep Asia Awards reinforced once again Asian manufacturers’ commitment to sustainability and environment protection with an increased number of entries and participants to the program. The award ceremony took place at DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2015 on March 24th, 2015 from 16:00 – 17:00 at the Ceremony Stage of Entrance # 1 of SNIEC with a high presence of flooring industry professionals, media, show’s strategic partners and more.
At DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2015, 9 main green initiatives were officially awarded by a jury of experts from some of the most influential associations and media in the industry.
The winners for each category were:
1. Product category
This category includes any product that is sustainable and eco-friendly.
Winner: “Environment-friendly Floor Cleaning Membrane” by Shan Dong LiFang Jie
Honorable Mention: “RETROPLATE SYSTEM®” by Wuxi Huacan Chemical Co., Ltd
Honorable Mention: “3 Layers Solid Wood Flooring” by Dalian Huade Wood Product Co.,Ltd.
2. Practice/Process
This category includes any practice or process improvement that reduces negative environmental impact or promotes sustainability.
Winner: Weihai Shanhua Carpet Group Co., Ltd with “Green Production to Create a Healthy Environmental Space”
Winner: Zhejiang Sunflower Technology Co.,Ltd with “Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing -Manufacturing For Environment”
Honorable Mention: Beaulieu Asia with “Svelte Collection – Commercial Carpet”
3. Promotion/Communication
This category refers to any educational, marketing or promotional activity realized in Asia that promotes environmental sustainability and/or accurately conveys knowledge and information about green initiatives.
Winner: Novalis Innovative Flooring
4. Pinnacle
This category includes a person or company that has gone above and beyond professional duty and industry norms, benefitting the flooring industry with personal and/or professional leadership in the area of environmental sustainability.
Winner: Novalis Innovative Flooring
