Fashion hits the floor at Mohawk Home

Posted Date: 3/27/2017
[New York] Mohawk Home opened its showroom in the Textile Building here March 27, debuting brand new area rug introductions.

Blush and blue were the big colors on display — both hues that play well with popular neutrals like gray and taupe, said Deanna Etheridge, design director at Mohawk Home.

Other popular looks include tribal and Aztec patterns, and updates and new colors in Persian looks.

Etheridge also pointed out that Mohawk Home has developed new Mud Cloth looks, which mimic the look of wool, hand-woven rugs but are actually made using Mohawk’s EverStrand, a polyester made from recycled bottles. “They won’t shed, they’re sustainable, and they stand up to water,” Etheridge said.

Mohawk also showcased its new indoor/outdoor collections — Malibu, which features sisal rugs, and Villa, which features cut pile rugs. Both collections are mold resistant and feature bold, bright colors, including Greenery, the Pantone color of the year for 2017, and vibrant jewel tones.

“Rugs are a very important part of the transition from hard surface to soft surface,” said Bart Hill, senior vice president at Mohawk Home.

The event was part of the New York Home Textiles Show.
